More information on AECOM and its services can be found at www.aecom.com. **About the Business Line** **Environment** Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources. **Job Summary** AECOM is seeking a **Structural Engineer** to be based in our Oak Ridge, TN project office. The incumbent engineers will perform detailed design and analysis of custom equipment for the Department of Energy (DOE). The selected candidate specifically will work in a multidisciplinary equipment engineering team completing the structural design and seismic qualification of custom material handling and process/containment equipment (primarily gloveboxes) integral to the required functions of the project. The work will include creating comprehensive calculation analyses and documents supported by detailed finite element analysis, seismic analysis, and a combination of stainless steel framing member design, plate and shell design, and connection design following Department of Energy (DOE) design standards, codes, and quality procedures. Essential Responsibilities: + Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision. + Act as a lead on less complex tasks and responsible for a portion of a design or section of an analysis or design review. + Generate complete design specifications of more complex projects. + Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements. + Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status. + Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications. + Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications. + Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations. + Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures. + Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work. Additional Information: + Relocation benefits are available for this position. **Minimum Requirements** Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (i.e. Civil or Structural Engineering) from an ABET accredited program is required. Minimum Requirements: A minimum of Five (5) years experience in an engineering environment. Working knowledge of: + Nuclear and commercial industry consensus standards and specifications + Model building codes + Applicable government and state regulations + Proficient in the use of standard symbols for welding, brazing, and nondestructive examination Capable in providing Structural analysis in the following areas: + Seismic response + High wind and tornado behavior + Explosions/blast effects + Vibratory or cyclic loadings Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US citizens. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance.
